DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Éire Óg Hurling and Football Club - Development Plan

2022 – 2028

BACKGROUND

These are exciting times at Éire Óg GAA, Camogie and Ladies Football Clubs. Memberships and participation levels across all clubs, particularly female, continue to rise with our young (and not so young) enjoying the benefits of community and team based sport, exercise, competition and camaraderie leading to lifelong friendships.

The complex at Éire Óg has evolved to become a major focal point and meeting place for the whole community, including primary schools, with a wide range of facilities including grass playing pitches, Astro turf mini pitch, dressing rooms, ball alley, multi purpose hall and bar.

Since moving to the current facility in 1987 the club has been involved in ongoing development of the facilities with to date in excess of €3 Million invested. This has been done with the help of members, local community and grant aid.

The demands on our facilities have increased considerably over the last number of years and it is now necessary to move forward with the next phase of the clubs development. It is imperative that our facilities are in a position to cater for the increases in club membership and the growth in the wider community population currently taking place.

THE PLAN

A development committee with representatives from each of the three Éire Óg clubs has been established to deliver the following projects to ensure that we can provide the necessary playing facilities to accommodate training and games at night and throughout the year. The plan is expected to take 6 years to complete.

PHASE 1 (Current Project)

  • Insulate and re-roof of the pavilion.
  • Re-surfacing of the all weather pitch.
  • Development of two new under age training pitches. (Currently awaiting planning approval from An Bord Pleanala).
  • The Club set aside funding in 2021 for the works to the training pitches.

PHASE II (Future Project)

  • Roofing of existing ball alley and creating store room for pavilion as well as state of the art gym facilities for the club.
  • Construction of new ball alley.
  • 4 Dressing Rooms, Toilets and a Referee Changing Room and Store for the benefit of pitches 2 and 3.
  • Secure and develop new training pitch.
  • Walking / Running Track

How Can You Help?

The total cost of the Phase I development will be €380,000. We have received a Sports Capital Grant of €112,500 as well as our own savings of €58,000.

However we have a shortfall of €209,500 which we will need to raise through various fundraising initiatives over the next 12 months.

THESE WORKS INCLUDE:

  • Re-roofing of the pavilion.
  • Re-surfacing of the all weather pitch.
  • Proposed new under age training pitches. (Currently awaiting planning approval from An Bord Pleanala).

While the development committee is acutely aware of the financial challenges facing people currently, we are confident that our community will respond positively as has always been the case in the past to these very exciting and necessary projects. We will continue to inform you of progress and look forward to your support over the coming months.
